About Matthew Rossetti
Matthew Rossetti is an experienced business attorney who concentrates his practice in transactional business matters, including fair and dynamic equity agreements for startup companies. He is passionate about building long-lasting relationships with entrepreneurs, and has successfully helped many startups form, fundraise, build strategic partnerships, and ultimately achieve their financial goals.
Matthew comes to Gordon Law Group from Sentient Law, Ltd., which he founded in 2014.
Matthew has demonstrated a passion for entrepreneurship in his legal career and beyond. He was inducted into the Young Entrepreneur Council (YEC) and was a founding member of the Forbes Legal Council in 2015. He has over a decade of experience with digital marketing, software development, and ecommerce, and he briefly managed digital operations for the Los Angeles Times and Chicago Tribune. His inside knowledge has proven invaluable to the hundreds of startup founders whom Matthew has advised.
In 2013, Matthew met Mike Moyer, author of Slicing Pie: Funding Your Company Without Funds, while volunteering at a Chicago business incubator. Slicing Pie provides a framework for entrepreneurs to distribute equity fairly and proportionally amongst their initial cofounders. Matthew has consulted hundreds of attorneys and entrepreneurs around the world on the principles of Slicing Pie and is one of the first attorneys to experiment with dynamic equity.
In 2019, Matthew accepted an adjunct professor position at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he teaches a seminar course called Emerging Technologies that focuses on cutting edge issues at the intersection of technology and law.
Matthew has continued his entrepreneurial endeavors to this day. He has a passion for architecture, engineering, and design, and is also an avid fan of motorsports and boxing. He is a conservationist, serving as General Counsel to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) and the Chicago Chapter of the CTBUH.
